Animal Haven was awarded a grant by the Mayor’s Alliance for New York City’s Animals to facilitate the opening of an adoption center, which will also function like a profit-making venture to ensure sustainability. The grant will cover rent costs for the next two years, after which Animal Haven projects retail income, along with traditional fundraising, will sustain the adoption center.
 

The impressive 7,000 square foot adoption center and retail space, located in the heart of Soho, will be much more than a shelter of a store. It will shift the ongoing negative perceptions of pet adoption, cultivate responsible pet guardianship, bring the community together and, of course, place many homeless animals with new families. And in a city where each year you can find up to 40,000 animals in city shelters, finding animals homes is a worthy cause – not only for the animals but for the people too.
